Angry Verbs and a CURRENTLY

This week we've been doing a fun and engaging unit on verbs - and my title made the students go wild...

We've been discussing the different types of verbs: action, linking, and helping.
We played charades, went on verb scavenger hunts, discussed numerous examples of the different kinds of verbs, and labeled sentences based on the 4 sentence patterns:
1. Subject-Action Verb
2. Subject-Action Verb-Direct Object
3. Subject-Linking Verb-Predicate Noun
4. Subject-Linking Verb-Predicate Adjective

I then used activities from my Angry Verbs Activity Packet:
 Here's the student note sheet:
I then gave the students an assignment to choose an angry bird and write two sentences about him/her. One sentence needed to contain an action verb and one a linking verb.

  1. This post came right on time! My kids are struggling with verbs. It's driving me nuts! My student teacher did an Angry Verbs bulletin board last year that they LOVED, so this was a great reminder of that. We will be doing this SOON!

  5. I love the idea of baking cookies for the school secretary! I think I might have to borrow your idea and make cookies for the ladies in the office. My team of 3rd grade teachers are going to make breakfast for the specialists that work with our team as well. Just want to show them how much we appreciate them.
